“Metaphysics has been criticised as unscientific, speculative, and redundant. But any critic of metaphysics inevitably ends up making metaphysical claims of their own.
Metaphysics is in fact inescapable – all of our thinking is underpinned by it, and those who ignore it simply espouse an unexamined and possibly faulty metaphysics”…

When Computer Scientists, Industry Experts, Consultants, Academics, Public Intellectuals, Politicians, Business Leaders and the Main Stream Media make claims relating to so-called “Artificial General Intelligence” or other forms of computation, do they disclose as part of these claims their Metaphysical, Philosophical and Theological orientation as to how they make sense of Reality?
For example:
Are they Realists or Nominalists?
Are they Materialists or Idealists?
Do they believe that Being is fundamental to Existence?
Do they believe in Objectivity & Truth, or are they Post-Truth?
What is their perspective on Aristotle’s Four Causes as it relates to the Natural World?
Have Humans liberated themselves from the Transcendent (e.g. Marxism, Modern Gnosticism), the Natural World (e.g. Bio-Geo-Genetic-Engineering) and themselves (e.g. Trans Humanism)? Is this even possible?
What is their perspective on Heidegger’s different forms of consciousness - Vorhandenheit (Present-at-Hand) and Zuhandenheit (Being-Ready-to-Hand)?
Do they believe in Thomist philosophical frameworks that highlight the relationships between the Metaphysical & Physical, the Transcendent & Immanent, and the Contingent Being of Man & the Necessary Being of God?
Are they Marxists who ground their beliefs in Materialism and the Primacy of Man, a Primacy of Human Consciousness and a Theology of Marxism (Man as God)? Is Reality a Social Construct?
Do they believe in the role of Semiotic Signs as a mediator in enabling the intelligibility of the Universe? If so, do they believe in Sausserian Linguistic Dyadic Structures or do they believe in Charles Sanders Peirce’s Triadic Semiotic structures and the Pragmatic Maxim?
Do they believe in Searle’s Chinese Room Argument?
Do they believe that Computation is Intelligence?
Do they believe in Cartesian Substance Dualism - res Cogitans and res Extensa, or are they, for example, Monists? What about Property Dualism (e.g. Conscious-Self (Ego) and Being)?
Do they believe that Human Beings exist in an “in-between” metaxic state between the Transcendent and Immanent?
Do they believe in the Triadic nature of Reason - Abductive (Peirce), Inductive (Bacon) and Deductive (Aristotle) as forms of Reasoning?
Do they believe in three modes of Being (Peirce) that extend from Abstraction to the Mind to Being in the World?
Do they believe in Triadic Categories of Thought - Aristotle (Ontological), Kant (Epistemological) and Peirce (Phenomenological)?
Do they believe in the Univocity of Being (Duns Scotus)?
Do they believe in the Universality of Reason (Kant)?
Do they believe in a Triadic of Being (Rosmini) - Moral, Ideal and Real Being?
Do they embrace a Philosophy of Mechanisation where the Mind, Body and World we inhabit are Mechanical Machines from the Industrial Age?
Do they believe we are in the Fourth Industrial Revolution, including the notion that the industrial age concept of engineering can now be extended into the domains of geo-genetic-bio-engineering as they relate to dynamic complex living systems?
Is there a distinction between the Self and Non-Self?
Are they Modernists and Post-Modernists in their Political Philosophical Orientation? - For example, Rational Individual Liberalism or different forms of collectivism, such as Socialism/Communism or Fascism?
Should there be limits to the Power of the State?
Who grants Human Rights? Are there Human Rights with or without Human Obligations?
etc, etc, etc…
